INTRODUCTION:

I am M.SUBBAIAH(ESWAR).Bofore coming into the Govt sector I worked as a PHYSICS LECTURER in private Degree and Jounir Colleges.I have been teaching Telugu and English languages to classes 1 to 5 th for the last few years since I came into the Govt sector.I did some experiments in enabling the children to write and compose in simple English.It is a challenging task for me to pay proper attention to the correction of their homework

  TOPIC:   HOME WORK

Homework is a set of tasks assigned to students by their teachers to be completed outside the class.

Homework teaches students to work independently and develop self-discipline.Home work encourages students to take initiative and responsibility for completing a task.Homework always  parents to have an active role in their child's education and helps them evaluate their child's progress.

Homework was invented by Horace Mann.He is a politician and educational reformer in Ameria

RESEARCH  QUESTIONS ABOUT HOMEWORK:

* What is home work?

*Do we assign homework?

*Does homework prepare students for the next level?

*Does homework teach students responsibility?

*How do parents play into the homework discussion?

*What does research say about homework?

*How does homework positively affect students ?

*What do experts say about homework ?

MYSELF:

*What work can be given as homework?

*Is it necessary to give home tasks to pupils?

*Do they do it individually?

*Can the correction be carried out in the regular class?

*Are the follow teachers facing the same problem

*What measures do they take to motivate students to do the homework? 

STRATEGIES FOR HOMEWORK COMPLETION:

* Identify a location for doing homework that is free of distraction

* Have all materials available and organized

* Allocate enough time to complete activities and keep on schedule

* Take good notes

*Develop a sequential plan for completing multi-task assignments

These are main strategies for teaching students with learning disabilities.

RESEARCH BASED STRATEGIES :

-Give clear and appropriate assignments

- Make homework accommodations

-Teach study skills

-Use a homework calender

-Ensure clear home /school communication.

INFORMATION:

I have interacted with my students who suggested that periodical allotment of home tasks at their convenience will help them .They also shared their expectations about the correction homework

-Students around 40 percent recommended regular allotment of homework

-Parents around 80 percent recommended daily homework.

-Additionally 80 percent of the students wanted to have the homework in groups.20 percent of them to do it individually.

GROUP HOMEWORK.

MICHAEL LINSIN:

 Michael Linsin in his paper"Smart Classroom Management" ,feels that correcting homework is a waste of time .And he suggested that giving chance to present the homework in the regular class where they can have an exposure to the skills of presentation with immediate feedback from the teacher as well as the students may be more useful.

INTERPRETATION:

My fellow teachers  felt that it is not that necessary to give homework regularly.Creative tasks may be assigned once in a week.

Experts strongly recommended immediate feedback after the completion of every task.Grammer and pronunciation exercises are more preferable as the teacher can get the task sheets exchanged and  corrected among students themselves under his /her supervision.

IMPLIMENTATION OF HOME WORK:

Homework develope self-discipline and  encourages students to  take initiative and responsibility for completing a task.Homework allows parents to have an active role in their child's education and held them evaluate their child's progress.

I asked my students and parents about homework and I have given very little homework for my students like..

students do their homework happily because it was very little.

IN FINLAND AND US:

In FINLAND After school ,the students concentrate on their hobbies and life skills.Some kids spent time with their  family , Some learnt  to play music and some even climbed trees.In FINLAND teachers gave very little homework and no culture of extra private tuition.Teaching is a high-status job in Finland and teachers are according a great deal of professional independence.

All their America and Western world keeps wondering how they have such a good education system.It because they teach their children to face struggles of life and not to score in an examination.Because they felt that huge homework kills the freedom of Students.

In US (United states of America) homework is slavery .Slavery was abolised with the passing of the 13 th Amendment to the US constitution.

CONCLUSION: 

After initiating this small exploratory study ,I would like to impliment some of the most applicable suggestions in my classes.By analyzing,I came to know that homework is a tool to develope the skill of listening ,speaking,reading,writing and recapitulation as well as.Giving homework twice a week in LSR skills,collecting authentic materials for the next day"s transaction,making audio records of students ,responses are some of the ways to sustain the interest of the students and to reduce stress on students and teachers  as well .Peer correction,Self correction under the guidance of the teacher,correctly randomly picked scripts,correcting the selectedscriptd mainly of the late bloomers were very useful in the process of homework.

I have always drained their freedom in the matter of students .I rarely gave homwork to students.I encourage them to do most of their academic work as part of group work.
